Description
Membership Luncheon Sponsored by Edward Jones Investments-Matt Schimanski
Guest Speaker: Bill Davis
Topic: Learning at the Ballgame: Three Skills for Managerial Success and Four Qualities of Successful Leaders
Bill Davis, Program Chair / Assistant Professor from the Forbes School of Business & Technology at Ashford University, will deliver an inspiring, informative, and stimulating talk about leadership styles, and managerial skills he learned and practiced from baseball. He will discuss how they apply and connect to business, education, and life. According to Bill Davis, “Playing baseball in my youth, high school, and in college, provided me with a solid foundation for succeeding in business, higher education, and helped me further student success, the success of others, and it allowed me to progress forward in my career.”
Successful managers often are transparent, open, authentic, and serve as positive role models who lead by example. When Bill looks back and reflects, he says it is easy for him to see how these leaders connect, inspire, influence, motivate, improve people, and drive team performance. Their technical, conceptual, and interpersonal skills are keys to their success. Understanding and implementing these skills allows us to practice, prepare, and handle various situations in a business environment. Plus, four qualities of successful leaders will be discussed. We’ve all experienced good and bad leadership from bosses, professors, and project managers. Leaders use different styles, and many are good at what they do. Some are bad. A rare few are exceptional. Apply these four qualities into your everyday coaching will help you become the effective leader people desire to follow.
