Naperville Area Humane Society
- Non Profit
The Naperville Area Humane Society is a non-profit, limited admission animal shelter that provides care for over 700 dogs and cats every year. We have a variety of volunteer programs available and currently have over 450 volunteers. We also have a wide range of humane education programs and served over 10,000 kids in 2016. One program that is unique is our Paws for Tales literacy program which is currently in 44 locations, primarily schools. For this program, certified dog teams work with students with reading challenges such as shyness, stuttering, etc. The students read humane themed books to the dog which creates a nonjudgmental environment that helps improve their skills and confidence. Another note worthy program is our Safe Pets program which provides temporary housing for pets primarily of domestic violence victims as the human shelters do not accept animals. Oftentimes people will not leave these dangerous situations due to fear for their pet. We continue to strive to find new ways to serve the people and animals in Naperville and the surrounding communities. Please visit: www.NapervilleAreaHumaneSociety.com for more information.
